The Package:
NDM were contracted to produce and install various zinc cladding and
weathering systems and associated substrate to the external elevations
of the building. An angled plant screen was also constructed using
steel box-section posts (also provided by NDM) and clad in zinc. Our
package also includes weathering to all risers and plant housings on
the roof and the fabrication and installation of a maintenance walkway
on various levels of the rear elevation.
The Design:
For this project the architects had a
particular vision for the cladding. The Steck panels were installed in
such a way as to create a grid pattern with major and minor lines,
where 2 panels are installed close to each other and then spaced
normally all around. This gives the building a very distinctive look
that stands out from the buildings around without being out of place.
This design show's the versatility of the Steck panel system and is
another example of the finishes which can be achieved.
Materials Used:
The cladding and Steck panels are all
fabricated by NDM from Pre-Weathered VM Quartz Zinc. The substrate
consists of composite panels from Kingspan which are fixed to a
metsec frame also installed by NDM. The Steck Panels are fixed to an aluminium rail system
designed and fabricated by NDM.
