The Package:
NDM Were contracted to provide both the
Substrate, Louvers, Mansafe System and Cladding to the Plant Room
located on the roof.
The Design:
NDM were able to value engineer the
original architects design to be more cost effective and achieve a
higher specification.
NDM were handed a shell of structural
steel to which we fixed our substrate which was later clad in zinc.
NDM were also able to simplify the louvre design to speed up
installation time.
Materials Used:
Roof:
NDM's structurally engineered design for
the roof meant that additional Metsec Purlins were required to support
the composite Panel Substrate. These were fixed to the structural
steels using thick galvanised steel brackets.
Each joint in the composite panel first
had a mastic seal applied to increase the weather tightness of the
roof prior to the zinc being laid (allowing trades inside the building
to start sooner.) All joints were then sealed with foil tape. Any
exposed cut edges of composite panel were sealed using a galvanised
steel angle manufactured by NDM.
A breathable Klober membrane was then
secured to the composite panel and the Pre-Weathered Graphite Grey Pro
Zinc was laid on top secured with stainless steel patent clips and
self tapping screws.
Elevations:
The substrate consists of Metsec Purlins
fixed into the Structural Steel and Kingspan Cold Store Composite
Panels secured to both the Structural steel and Metsec Supports.
The build up then followed the same
sequence as mentioned above.
Several Louvres were installed as part
of our package both to the flat roof and vertical elevations.
